SSC CHSL 2021 Tier II: Essay & Letter Topics Out, Check Difficulty Level

Staff Selection Commission has conducted the Tier-II exam of SSC CHSL 2021 on January 09, 2022 to recruit candidates for Combined Higher Secondary Level Posts. Only the candidates who passed the SSC CHSL Tier I exam could appear for the Tier-II exam. A total of 45,492 candidates appeared for the Tier-II examination from various regions.



The SSC CHSL Tier-II was a descriptive paper that contained an essay, letter and precis-writing questions. In this article, we are going to analyze the topics given for essay and letter writing in SSC CHSL Paper-II.



SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern :



SSC CHSL Tier-II was a descriptive paper of 100 marks held in ‘Pen and Paper’ mode. Candidates had the option to write the paper either in English or Hindi. Candidates were asked to write the complete paper in the language chosen otherwise part of the paper written in a language other than chosen would be awarded zero marks. The minimum qualifying marks for the SSC CHSL Tier-II exam would be 33%. Candidates were allotted 1 hour to write the paper. The paper contained questions from the following topics.

SSC CHSL 2021: Essay Topic



The essay question in the SSC CHSL 2021 Tier II paper had to be attempted either in English or Hindi. Candidates were asked to write a 250 words essay. The topic for the essay in the SSC CHSL Tier-II paper was - “The Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in a Metropolitan City.” The essay topic was moderately difficult. Candidates had to write about various pros and cons of living in a metropolitan city and it could be attempted by acknowledging various aspects of life one by one. Candidates could make the comparison on the basis of the quality of life, environment, medical facilities, educational facilities, employment opportunities, transportation and many more. The essay had to be written from the perspective of an individual and every candidate could have different opinions with regards to the advantages and disadvantages of living in a metro city. However, some points like the ease of transportation, better medical and educational facilities could be mentioned under the advantages and poor quality of air, pollution, stress could be mentioned under the cons of living in a metro city.



SSC CHSL 2021 Tier II: Letter Writing



Candidates were asked to write a letter in 200 words using the parameters given in the question. The letter writing question in the SSC CHSL Tier-II paper stated: “You are Hemdev or Hema, location - Mohd. Kazi Kareem Nagar, post office- Haider Pur, Muzaffarnagar, 251001. Write a letter to the Municipal Councillor of your area drawing his attention towards the increasing population of stray dogs in your locality and the problems arising due to it.”



The topic of the letter was generic and had to be written to the Municipal Councillor in a formal manner. Candidates who had practised sample papers could have easily attempted it. Candidates were to state the problems faced due to the rising population of stray dogs in their locality. As the letter was formal, candidates had to state the issues in a very precise and clear manner and stick to the details given in the question.



The SSC CHSL Tier-II result will soon be announced. Candidates who clear the Tier-II exam will be eligible to appear for the SSC CHSL Tier-III exam. The Paper III of SSC CHSL 2021 is expected to be held in April, 2022. SSC CHSL Tier-III will be a computer-based skill test to assess candidates’ typing skills for Data Entry jobs.
